4 Ways to Avoid the Horror of Acne

Neither of my parents told me about acne. Since both of them had acne problems of their own, I really wish they would have spoken to me about it. It might have helped me prepare for becoming the scourge of the universe.

Both of my parents did, in fact, talk to me about my zit condition, after the fact. What they both had to say, really did not give me a lot of faith that I would come through this with flying colors. I had to find out, on my own, what my parents never really discovered for themselves. How sad is that?

Acne is a condition that hits most teens at some point. This is Mother Nature's way of saying, "You are hormonally changing into an adult". Our hormones begin to affect the oils that secrete from our sweat glands. It is oily and loaded with bacteria, that our bodies find; less than inviting.

This bacteria and dead skin cells will clog our skin pores in our faxes, necks, backs shoulder and other body parts. This reaction to the hormonal change that your body is going through is acne.

Here are a few tips to help you.

1. Don't fall for the 'acne product-hype'

Since the drugstore is right down the street, you will probably go there to try to find some acne treatments.

A lot of what the over the counter prescriptions for acne medications are a lot of crap. Some will work and others will not. Look at the active ingredients, first. There are some awesome products that will work, but you will have to know what you are looking at first. Check out the "caution" labelling on the products. If they indicate that the material can cause skin irritation; then let this go for now. Some of the cleansing pads really do work!

2. Don't pop or scrub the zits.

Popping zits is one of the worst things you can do, and must stop now. It will only spread more bacteria to your already infected pores. Scrubbing your face raw is also something that has to stop. This irritates the infected area, and can spread the infection even further.

When your pimples are ready to pop, they will. The urge to pop these zits can be overwhelming, They itch and hurt. Let them pop on their own accord. This way, you are not impacting the pore and causing it to be more swollen and infected later.

3. Lifestyle change

What ever you put into your body will come out of it. If you eat already processed food, such as a bag of potato chips, your body, the organic food processor, doesn't have to work very hard to digest the food.

By eating healthier, you will not be adding to the oily hormonal mess, that your body is trying to eliminate. This will help cut down on the frequency of acne breakouts you are having.

4. A dermatologist is the last option, try the miracle cures first

A dermatologist is usually the last resort to fighting the acne battle, on your own. Today, there are a few miracle cures for curing acne quick, that you have been seeing on the TV commercials. By all means, try a few of them. Nothing lost, nothing gained. If some of these work, then God Bless you! If not, it's time to visit a dermatologist.
